Reed Nagel

Reed Nagel was named assistant vice president of finance and director of procurement in 2024. He leads the strategic direction and efficient management of the university’s procurement activities, which include the acquisition of goods, services, insurance, information technology, and construction contracts. He also oversees the Supplier Opportunity Program, aimed at supporting and strengthening small, women-owned, and minority-owned businesses, and surplus property operations. 

Nagel originally joined the university’s procurement department in 2017 and served as associate director of procurement for goods, services, and information technology. 

Nagel is a member of the Virginia Higher Education Procurement Consortium; the Virginia Association of State College and University Procurement Professionals; and the Atlantic Coast Conference Procurement Professionals Committee.  

Nagel earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Virginia Tech and is a graduate of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. He is a certified Virginia construction contracting officer and certified university procurement officer.
