Internship & Fellowship Programs
The Vice President for Finance established the Rotational Internship and Fellowship Programs in 2016 in order to increase the employment of talented individuals from diverse backgrounds. They are two of the signature InclusiveVT initiatives across the VP for Finance departments.
Both programs provide participants a cross-departmental, hands-on learning and development experience that is tailored to each individual’s interests.
The Vice President for Finance Rotational Internship Program is a 12-week, paid program that offers undergraduate students a hands-on learning experience across the VP for Finance department. Interns typically select three primary concentration areas with the VP for Finance reporting units and work for a four-week period in each of the selected areas.
The Internship program is typically targeted to rising juniors and seniors from any academic background, with the program beginning in May and ending in August. Students from all majors and fields of study are encouraged to apply!
Upon completion of the program, interns should have a much greater understanding of the processes used in university finance and higher education administration. Successful interns are also encouraged to pursue the department's Rotational Fellowship Program position, or consider other positions in higher education at Virginia Tech.
Launched in 2016, the Vice President for Finance Rotational Fellowship Program is a one-year, post-baccalaureate program. The program is tailored to each Fellow's areas of interest, allowing them to select up to three primary concentrations among the VP for Finance units and complete a rotation in each selected office.
The goal of the program is to identify individuals with a career interest in finance or higher education administration, and then develop the Fellow’s skillsets and knowledge through meaningful experience that will prepare them for that career path.
The Fellowship is a 12-month, full-time and benefitted university staff position that typically begins in June and runs through the following May.
