Heidi Myers brings extensive experience in a wide range of leadership roles in university administration as executive director of real estate management within the Division of Finance at Virginia Tech.

Reporting to the vice president for finance and chief financial officer, Myers provides oversight to the Office of Real Estate Management.  Previously, Myers served as the assistant vice president for business services overseeing parking and transportation, air transportation services, and mail and printing services.  In this role, Myers also provided oversight for business planning and development resources for the Operations division, including data administration and information technology, finance, and communication.  Myers also served as chief financial officer at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine.  In that role, she supported the integration of the School of Medicine into the Virginia Tech financial system.

Prior to Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, Myers was deputy chief facilities officer within the Virginia Tech Facilities Department.  Myers was responsible for the coordination of the administrative, operational, and financial affairs of the Facilities Department in support of the associate vice president and chief facilities officer.  She had direct management authority for facilities finance and administration (including human resources and enterprise systems), real estate management, geographic information systems, and the facilities occupational safety program. 

Additional administrative services leadership roles held by Myers at Virginia Tech include chief of staff to the vice president for administration; director of business affairs in the Office of the President; and director of administrative operations and assistant to the executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Myers is highly engaged in the university community as a whole.  She serves as a mentor in the Women’s Leadership and Mentoring Program and has volunteered her administrative expertise and time to a myriad of university committees and local agencies.  Among these groups are Administrative Services Staff for Effective and Sustainable Support (ASSESS), the New River Valley Emergency Communications Regional Authority, the Presidential Task Force for Strategic Planning, and numerous others.

Myers earned her bachelor’s degree in organizational management and development from Bluefield College and her master’s from Virginia Tech in public administration and policy.
