2022 Employee Awards & Recognition Ceremony

Nominations now open for 2022!!

We are excited once again to offer the annual VP for Finance Employee Awards and Recognition Ceremony. This year’s ceremony will be April 20 at 2pm and will be held virtually through Zoom. We will communicate more information soon about registration and what you can expect from this year’s program.

In the meantime, we also need your input! We are now accepting nominations for several awards and recognitions described below. If you know of a colleague or team that should be considered for any of these awards, we want to hear about it! Please nominate them using this link by Friday, March 18 (you will need to be logged into your VT account to access the form).

Any Finance employee may submit nomination(s) for any of the categories. Individuals may submit nominations anonymously if that is their preference. In order to receive consideration, nominations should include specific information and details about the employee or team’s accomplishments. Submissions should include information or examples about what was accomplished, how the nominee(s) accomplished it, and the results or impacts of the accomplishment. The VP for Finance Inclusion & Diversity Committee will carefully review each nomination, gather input from department leadership, and select the award recipients.

Here are the award categories and criteria for this year:

  • Innovation Award – For the most impactful innovative method, tool, or product
    As a leading land-grant university, Virginia Tech continues to make an impact through the development of new, innovative practices, methods, and approaches. It is this drive to improve, increase positive impacts, and bring new ideas to life that makes this individual or team stand out.
  • Hokie Huddle Award – For the best example of collaboration across departments
    Teamwork and collaboration require work and dedication. This award recognizes the individual or team that has demonstrated commitment to working towards a common goal that not only benefits their work environment, but positively impacts the division. This individual or team worked to bring together multiple VP for Finance departments to leverage expertise and achieve goals.
  • Hokie High Five Award – For outstanding customer service
    Customer service is rooted in respect, patience, empathy, and a willingness to help. This individual or team leads by example, embodying the spirit to excel in helping our peers, our students, and our Virginia Tech community and striving to fulfill our mission, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve).
  • Inclusion & Diversity Champion – For championing inclusion and diversity with the university community and beyond
    Advancing Inclusion and Diversity at Virginia Tech focuses on representing different ideas, values, beliefs, perspectives, identities, backgrounds and cultures of the university community. This individual or team promotes, encourages, and supports accountability and representation of diversity in a welcoming, affirming and inclusive way within their department, community, and the university.
  • Employee Shout-Outs! (New Category for 2022)
    Do you have a colleague who deserves a shout-out? This may be someone who brings sunshine to the office, or isn’t afraid to tackle the big problem, or always chipping in to help out the team. You can choose your own criteria for this category – just let us know who’s making a positive contribution and how so!
